Our research and teaching
We specialise in research on international trade and trade policy, poverty and economic development, labour and education economics, resources, environment and climate and quantitative economic history.
Our research is supported by substantial research grants from the ESRC and other sources. We also work closely with all the major international agencies, from the World Bank to the European Commission - this depth of experience is brought to the teaching of our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

2014 Kuznets Prize awarded to Dr Paolo Masella
Sussex Lecturer in Economics Dr Paolo Masella has won an international prize for a journal article on national identity and ethnic diversity.
The 2014 Kuznets Prize has been awarded to Paolo for his paper on 'National Identity and Ethnic Diversity' in the Journal of Population Economics (2013), 26 (2), pp. 437-454.
